Top Twelve Therapy Toy List

7. Classic Wooden Beads ½", 1", 1 ½" ($12.95 – $24.95)
    Lakeshore (www.lakeshorelearning) – 800- 428-4414
  • Ages: 3+ years

  • Why: These classic beads encourage fine motor eye – hand coordination, and turning of the wrist so that the palm faces up and down (supination/pronation).

  • How: If someone has difficulty stringing the beads, place tape around the end of the string. This will make the end of the string less flexible and easier to put through the beads. Have them try stringing the beads with eyes closed. They should start stringing the large beads and progress to the smallest size beads.

  • Who: Anyone experiencing colles fracture, tennis elbow, golfer’s elbow, radial ray defects, etc.
